BANGKOK, 28 February 2015 (NNT) – The government of Thailand is preparing to allocate 5,000 rai of land in the National Forest Reserve as a cooperative pilot area of arable land, said MNRE Minister.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Gen Dapong Ratanasuwan, has revealed that the National Land Policy Committee is now preparing 5,218 rai of land in Kun Mae Tha National Forest Reserve in Chaing Mai as the pilot area of working land in the cooperative system for 2,000 households in the area this March.

The land allocation project is now being studied in other piloted areas in four provinces, namely Chiang Mai, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, and Chumphon with all information expected to be concluded in April 2015.

The MNRE Minister has denied any reported fraudulent activities in Chiang Mai and Tak province, which involves mentioning his name to collect the 3,000 baht fee in return for the land rights.

He has said that he has urged the governors of Chiang Mai and Tak to warn the public on this fraud, and to certify that the government’s land allocation project will not give out title deeds of the land to the public.
