Lower score for govt in poll

BANGKOK: -- THE GOVERNMENT has received a lower score for its performance over the past three months than during its first three months, a public opinion survey has found.

Respondents to a Bangkok Poll gave an average score of 6.20 out of 10 for the government's performance after it has been in power for six months, according to survey results released yesterday.

The government got a score of 6.52 in the previous survey conducted three months after it was in power. That was also a decline from the score of 6.90 in an earlier survey conducted on the National Council for Peace and Order's performance three months after the coup.

Bangkok University's Research Centre, which is known as Bangkok Poll, surveyed 1,158 people aged 18 and over in all regions of the country, as the post-coup government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha has been in power for six months.

The government received the highest score (7.11) for its performance over security matters and the lowest (5.58) in dealing with economic matters.

The people surveyed gave Prime Minister Prayut an average score of 7.26 out of 10, a decline from three months ago, when he got a score of 7.43. He got the highest score (7.89) for decisiveness and the lowest (6.13) for initiating new government projects.

When asked if they would support Prayut to continue serving as prime minister, 68.7 per cent of the respondents said they would, compared to 12.6 per cent who would not. Another 18.7 per cent did not answer this question.

North in the decision making for the new constitution instead of just the Bangkok Rich and Elite he would gain trust.

When Suthep Thaugsuban is brought before the Courts and convicted for his crimes, then I believe the Country has a fair

chance of moving forward.

A bit like Putin's poll he reckoned he had a 88% satisfaction with the public but when the public were asked direct it was less than 10% most good politicians can twist results from any poll to make themselves look good and popular, I am wonderful and 0.01% of the world said so.

Unless there is a reversal in attitude and in particular the direction in which the Democratically elected government will be made up, (if the softening up reports are true), I refer to un-elected outsiders and elected reps, unless there is a referendum to see if the population want that style of government, I can see lower scores in the future, very much lower.

Polls can be manipulated, depends on the questions asked, how they are phrased and what are the political views of the respondents. You appear to be a know it all farang, so tell us the answer if, as you allege, the areas you mentioned were included and not excluded in the poll. I thought the media report says poll taken in all provinces across the country. So they did not poll in Isaan or the north, aren't there provinces in these areas and aren't they part of the country? Or, maybe you're one of the pollsters, hence you unfetted knowledge of how Thais feel about the current government. You know what you know? Guess?

I see some signs of corruption lessening. I am not sure about the demographic makeup of the CDC - you seem to be - could you provide us with a breakdown of where the drafters are from geographically? Suthep convicted...might happen, but only if we see the Red shirts similarly convicted. Why isn't that assclown Jatuporn in jail?

Further, with a sample smaller than 2000, the confidence index goes wild whenever results are between 30% and 70% -- meaning the results have a very low confidence of being accurate. Worse, they never show the demographic distribution of those polled, another suspicious red flag. And finally, they never reveal the questions asked or how they were phrased, again suspicious. In short, three kinds of smoke -- there is fire somewhere, and just because someone cannot put their finger on the flame they still have valid and logical reasons for suspicion.

What don't you understand about "Polls can be manipulated" and how this can occur? Doesn't matter who conducts them or where they are conducted, one can have an opinion as to their validity, doesn't mean one is right. I have yet to see any political polls show demographics. I have seen other polls (not Thailand) show the questions asked, and yes, they are designed to get the required results.

I am not seeking a lesson in polling, I was asking the OP certain questions, so you elect to answer with data that is not relevant and proceed to go on about red flags, three kinds of smoke, fire and suspicions. So pray tell, how does your unfetted answers relate to my post? Also, as you cannot answer for the OP, are you just wanting to espouse your opinion because you think it looks good?
