I was living in Bangkok in 1992 during Black May, where hundreds of students were killed, tortured and disappeared by the then military government.

I now work in a university and have noticed similarities between the general feeling of students now and 23 years ago.

I hope and pray that nothing like that happens again but feel it is inevitable. What are your thoughts?

I am sorry to say that I also expect there will be killings by the military. Nothing has progressed significantly in terms of a civil society, a democratic process and the rule of law since 1992. There is an established pattern.

There will need to be organised and well-funded opposition though. At the moment, the anti-coup political leaders are keeping a low profile. There is no active figurehead or leader to rally around.
