I'm about to go to Thai Consulate in Vientiane for another one-year Thai Non-Immigrant "O" Visa.

Anybody done this run, lately? Any advice, tips, etc.?

My last visa run was at Savannakhet, this time last year; very pleasant experience.

Before then, my Thai visas were obtained in Los Angeles, California; no problems there, also, although a bit more paperwork.

Vientiane does not issue multiple entry non-o visas based upon marriage.

You will have to go to Savannakhet again.

Hi,

I looked into this over a year ago with Vientiane, and they stated that IF you have a Yellow Book, then they will issue a multiple entry non-o marriage visa, but can't verify whether this would be the case as I never actually went there. But I did get a Yellow Book in case. Unfortunately, I appear to have deleted the email from my account, otherwise I would have posted their response.

Vientiane has had a policy in place for many years to not issue multiple entry visas of any type.

I doubt very much that having a yellow house book would help in get a multiple entry non-o visa there.

It is just as easy to make a trip to Savannakhet to get one as it is to go to Vientiane.

I've found that my forthcoming trip to Savannakhet will be quite a bit more difficult than travelling to Vientiane for a visa, mainly because the timing of flights means you must spend 3 nights in Savannakhet, not something I really want to do. The only alternatives to flying to Savannakhet seem to involve fairly lengthy bus journeys of at least 2.5 hours - some a lot longer than that.

That would be direct flights from Bangkok to Savannakhet.

Air Asia and Nok have a fly/ride service to Mukdahan via Nakhon Phanom. Then you can cross the bridge to Savannakhet.

Yes I know. I was just pointing out that it isn't really as easy to go to Savannakhet as it is Vientiane. The Nok Air times could mean you still need to spend 3 nights there and a minimum of 2, plus there's a 2 hour bus trip each way and a wait before it starts.

Does Savannaketh do Multiple entry non O Visa based on having a child with a Thai, living together and taking care off?

I think, I even was denied such a Visa in Vienna's Thai Embassy consular section, but hear, that such Visa should be possible in Salzburg und Munich Thai Consulates.whistling.gif

I will give them a call, I soon in EU, but more near Vienna. Thank you.

If you are the legal father of you child by way of legitimization it may be possible in Savannakhet. There have been reports of them doing them but in all those cases the applicant appeared at the consulate with the mother and child to demonstrate they were living together as a family (de facto marriage).

OK, thank you.

I will give that a try - "applicant appeared at the consulate with the mother and child to demonstrate they were living together as a family". rolleyes.gif

Yes the flight schedule is inconvenient. it is faster to travel overnight by bus or private car.
