Its a hot one (the leak that is)!

Featured Replies

Hi, any suggestions for a plumber in Hua Hin area dealing in 16mm copper pipe. I have a small leak on the hot side that I cant find and need to isolate different areas but cannot find either fittings or solder, flux etc.

I am told there is a plumber in Pranburi with ultra sonic equipment for finding leaks but would need to find him first.

Any advice gratefully recieved

If not other responses, try an AC Installer.. They arguably work with copper pipe much more often than a plumber does.

Hi, thanks for the responce, been to 2 on Petchakesam road, niether have fittings other than 12mm to half inch

Can you replace the copper with PEX? Or a section of it?

Solder and flux should be available at most Ma and Pa hardware stores. Probably hidden somewhere out of site. It's commonly used to solder rain gutters and also automotive radiator repair.. The AC guys and auto repairs shops should have it also. If you find the leak it'd easy to re-sweat the joint but you will have to drain the pipe!

Hi Guys

The a/c places I have tried braze joints, but when unable to get fittings to connect to the 16mm pipe not much I can do short of starting afresh.

I used to have a plumbing & heating business in the uk years ago so know what I am looking for just a case of knowing where to look.

Thanks for the thoughts anyway.

I have seen copper fittings and pipe in the local Hardware House here in Rayong on highway 36. So if you have a store there maybe give a try.

Thanks for the responces. Found the area of the leak by bipassing with a hose pipe just waiting for an aircon guy coming at 9 thismorning to sweat me one fitting then going to renew with pvc cost 3000bht to buy the machine for fusing the pipes but overall much cheaper than sorting the copper.

3000 Baht I assume is for a PPR pipe welder?

Did you consider pimaflex multipipe? Same hot water abilities as PPR, but no welding machine needed, and the pipe is easily bendable, and comes in lengths up to 200M contiguous, so needs substantially less fittings/joining too.

Available at Thai Watsadu stores.

Love the avatar same myself

If you or someone else is sweating in the new line break the line apart & put white bread in & reconnect 7 sweat it together the bread sucks up all the moisture & then sweat in back of the joints don't heat the ends of pipe the solder will flow into the seams. Very old trick first i learned doing solder work on copper. Works every time & the bread will just flow out when you test the system.but if you can't find a plumber to sweat it an air con man does copper all the time as mentioned. And they are all readily available. A plumber out here may just try to stuff elephant glue around the joint & that wont work at all.
