manarak
Zurich should top the list. The people doing these rankings compare apples with oranges. Try to get a maid in Zurich as in Singapore! Edited March 4, 2015 by manarak
MrWorldwide
I'm happy I dont have to hire a maid anywhere. Isnt that one of the reasons men get married ?
manarak
I'm happy I dont have to hire a maid anywhere. Isnt that one of the reasons men get married ? it's an example - the difference in level of service between Singapore and Zurich is so big ! Zurich = do it yourself, everything. And condo buildings with swimming pools are unheard of. Cheapest hotel room is 149 CHF in Zurich, where everything such as WIFI, extra towel or whatever costs extra, no night reception. Only the most expensive Zurich hotels (from 500 CHF a night and up) can offer the same standard as many business hotels in Singapore provide, otherwise if you like tiny rooms, no indoor pool (only a handful of 4 or 5 star hotels have pools in Zurich), super expensive food, Zurich is for you. Shops close early, no 7-11 - in many restaurants, the staff will kick you out at around 23:00. The list goes on and on. They don't compare costs at the same level of service. MrWorldwide
The article does attempt to acknowledge that Zurich should be higher on that list - However, the EIU notes that the Swiss franc's recent unpegging from the euro means that Zurich and Geneva would actually be the world's most expensive cities at current exchange rates. ..... Meanwhile, European cities like Zurich were the most expensive for recreation and entertainment activities, the EIU found, which may indicate a greater premium on discretionary income.
