I met a girl that works in one of the beauty shops in the Sukhumvit area last year and we started out as friends. I will be returning this year and want to spend some time with her. If I take her out of her shop for any period of time she says I have to pay the owner money for being away from the shop. I had dated another girl from one of these shops years ago but was afraid to start a serious relationship because I wasnt sure if these girls are on the up and up or is it the same as taking a girl from a bar and paying a bar fine. Does anyone have any experience with these women. Do they recieve any money out the the money I would pay to their boss or does it all go to the boss. The girls I have met in these shops seem sincere but I suspect many may be on the game. Are these girls really prostitutes in a sense or are they just girls who work hard and are looking for a farang husband or boyfriend. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Bar fine a hairdresser - new one on me!! - It could be she is pocketing the said bar fine thats what would be in the back of my mind.

To be honest mate, be careful - I know a lot of ex ba***rls that their farang spons#rs have wanted them out the bar so they pay for BEAUTY SCHOOL for them to go learn.

a couple of Soi 22 salons are a perfect example.

I am not saying they all are wor*ing girls but I know some will go meet their friends in discos, bars or even the well known freel*nce establishments after work and its not just for the chat.

I'm just trying to find out if anyone has any experience with these girls and if they are trustworthy. There is a sign in the shop that says buyout for the day with a price which I cant remember. It just makes me supicious. The one I started getting serious a few years ago I ended up not continuing my relationship with her because I suspected she was not as innocent as she pretended to be. Most of these girls have beem working in this shop for years and most of them do end up marrying farangs. Or is it a way to rack up numerous sponsors. They all seem to play the sweet inncoent part and I am wondering if its just an act. They work 12 hrs a day.

I know all the beauty salons do it in the sukhumvit area. However its not just a matter of picking a girl and then paying her boss. If you go in they will not say anything about it but you can ask them out for dinner or a drink and if they like you can meet them after work. They never ask for any money but if a girl gets to know you and likes you and you want her to get some time off the owner of the shop wants to compensated being they are not earning money cutting hair giving manicures as such. These girls are in the shop all the time and are working hard. I'm just wondering if there is something else to it and I am being naive. Maybe it is a way to get the big jackpot.

The Soi 5 area salons are notorius for it - cutting hair is their secondary business for these places down there.

The one i usually go to is on soi 4. I usually get a manicure and the girls are always just business. Its only after I got to know a couple of them was when I started dating any of them and when I took them out no mention of sex was made, I did ended up having sexual relations with the 1st one I met years ago but it was always after she got off work and it was on the 3rd date.and no mention of money was made.I even offered money for her cab and she refused.She started hinting at marriage after I knew her for awhile but I was afraid of being scammed.In fact when I enquired about her it turns out she is now married to a farang living in BKK. It was only after I returned and wanted her to get off from work which was when I had to pay 1000 baht to the boss. It seems like if these girls were interested in prostititution it would be far more easier to work in a bar. I think the reason they do it in the salon is they are looking for marriage or possibly boyfriends to sponsor them. All the times I have been to these salons I have never seen anyone leave with a girl that was working there. I guess maybe they just work a little more dicreetly and are more slective on who they go out with. I know they will not go out with anyone becuase I have talked to some people who have asked some of the girls to go out and were turned down. I was just trying to find some people with personal experience dating some of these women.

In Sukhumvit are nud_e barbers shops.

You get taken into a cubicle away from the shop window and basically the barber strips naked. I think it costs about THB 400.

Can't recall the soi numbers.

On the second date she wouldnt even come up to my hotel room becuase I needed to get something. She said she didnt want to be seen going into a hotel room but I did manage to persuade her on the 3rd date. Like I said no mention of money was ever made. I think they are looking for someone to get married to but I always suspect they freelance on the side. And 3 of my friends were with me getting manicures also and none of them were propositioned. And we were all fairly young guys in our 30's at the time.

a few years back going over on the plane one of my mates had his crown come loose, maybe the air pressure.

any way it was his first time in los and he was in need of a dentist, we found one for him nin the square that used to be in front of the ambassador, he went upstairs and we went for a beer, he was gone for some time but when he came back he had a big new smile not just because he had his tooth done.

the funny thing was being his first trip to los he could not get over the extra's involved in just having his crown fixed.

the look on his face as he told us, was worth the whole trip alone.
