I am now living in Phoenix, Arizona, in the U.S. I have lived in Thailand, on an O-A visa a couple times, also with a visa from a trip to KL and back and once to Mae Sai/Tachilek for a 30-day permit, for which I got a one-year extension in Chiang Mai.

When I go back there it will be to get a U.S. visa for my g/f who is from Myanmar. After we get married first. Since I have come to believe that the other methods: a Tourist visa for her - and later we get married in the States.. that would get her expelled from this country and me charged with fraud by the USCIS ; or a K-1, fiance visa - which some lawyers have told me would not be possible over there since the government of Myanmar will not permit us to marry there.... yet the U.S. embassy in Yangoon has indicated they do process K-1 visas - yet...?

My questions - for anyone out there who has some experience with Myanmar travel - are:

can I get a visa easily, as needed, to travel with my lady - say Tachilek to Mandalay to Yangoon - say up to a month at a time? This would be to search for the eek a san that states she has not been married. Or, which border crossing is advisable?

And I understand that people travel to Singapore from Thailand and back without a visa - for a stay of 15 days, get married and leave couple weeks afterwards. Anyone have updated info, on this?

Also, one more issue - I know this has been discussed in TV forums recently and the concensus is to apply for an O-A or non-Immigrant visa in the States, but I think it would be simplest for me to go to Thailand and get a 30-day permit at BKK and later go to Lao and get a non-Immi there and get it extended to a one-year in Chiang Mai; I have a Bangkok Bank account and I can get proof of income from the consulate there as I have before. That seems easier to me than driving to LA from Phoenix with medical and police clearance to apply at the Thai embassy.

Many thanks for your advice.
