Anyone with experience on this kind of adoption ? I am told that presently Thai are not yet allowed to adopt foreign children, Any exception to this law for step parents ? My daughter was born in Thailand and I am permanent resident, We were told that fora minor daughter to become Thai, I would also have to apply which is impossible for me to do, or wait til she is 20 to apply herself anyone with same experience ? Mario2008
Not aware of any law that doesn't allow a Thai national to adopt. The adoption law indicates it is possible, as a person that is adopted as a minor can gain Thai nationality. The problem is that you want her to be adopted, while you yourself remain the legal parent. Normally the purpose of an adoption is that the person who is adopted gets new legal parents. What is it that you want to achieve with the adoption? Thai nationality for your daughter or that your wife becomes the legal parent of the child?
