Thinking about a trip to Petchabun. Anyone know the city?

Featured Replies

Anyone know much about Petchabun? Much farang life, tourism, nightlife?

We visit the town late last year and enjoyed the trips to the National parks (one to the north west and the other north east). As we don't fancy bars I can't comment on the night life, there are however a nice night market in town with a variety of cheap Thai food.

Hi Kenny,

I lived there for four years before moving to Phitsanulok because of work and it's one of my favourite places. I go back regularly at holiday times and have lots of friends there.

There are plenty of good restaurants (mostly in one central area) and the nightlife is good and varied, if you get my drift? What are you after?

There are quite a few 'farangs' who congregate on a daily basis at "Toffee's" in the town centre where you can drink coffee and beer and 'shoot the breeze'. They are of various nationalities, English, Irish, Welsh, German, Australian, etc and a good crowd.

The local area has some stunning scenery but it depends how and how far you want to travel? There are two national parks and Khao Khor advertises itself as 'the Switzerland of Thailand'. All between 60 and 100 kms from the town centre.

I'm there again for Songkran so, if you decide to go, enjoy!!!

Dirty, boring, lots of foreigners that seemed to have drifted up from Pattaya with bar girl in tow. Often beer in hand if that is the type of crowd you wish to hang with

I live 45k south in Na Chaliang, Petchabun has come on leaps and bounds over the past 5 years and as others have said good places to eat, good night clubs, and of course there is Farang corner for coffee and beers, there is also an OK golf course at the Army base. also you are right on route 12 so easy access to many beautiful places Khao Khor being one of them. I guess it all comes down to what you are looking for if your looking for a Pattaya Petchabun is not the place to go.

We went last week. At first glance I thought Petchabun same same Thai town but does have some nice restaurants and bands all in one area. I thought it would be cooler but I think it was hotter than back home Chaiyaphum. Surrounded by mountains but city flat country. Recommend a visit to the local reservoir and a trip up the mountains to Khao Koh beautiful. 25 degrees up there. Lovely scenery and had a swim. War Memorial very good. Never found any farang restaurants there. Really wanted a nice breakfast and went to Toffees apparently the local farang hang out but very ordinary coffee and no food :-( Have the usual big c and Teisco mall set up. I wud not drive 5 hours to go there but certainly worth a visit
