Monk's murder case to be completed in a week or two
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The police report on the murder of revered Udon Thani monk Phra Bundit Supanditto should be completed in one or two weeks, Muang Udon Thani Police superintendent Colonel Phumwit Vejkama said yesterday.

He commented after case investigators met and said there were no additional points to probe, with the case to be forwarded to the Crime Suppression Division.

Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder - Pol Sr Sgt-Major Charnchai Soisangwan, 49, the alleged coordinator of the crime on March 1, Ek Udon Hospital chairman Banjerd Chatphaithoon, 63, who allegedly paid for the monk's murder, janitor Panja Chareesaen, 49, the alleged gunman, and irrigation office driver Bunnag Hongsakham, 50, the alleged lookout during the murder.

Jealousy rising from a misunderstanding about a female doctor's contact with the abbot of Wat Ban Pa Seesiad was allegedly the motive for the crime.

The Military Court refused to grant bail yesterday to the four suspects and they are being detained at the Udon Thani Prison.

Charnchai has been kicked out of the police force.

Things happened very quickly on this one after the local police chiefs were moved out of the way.

The police seem to be getting the message now that they must do their job or they wont have one.

The murder enquiry may be 'completed ' in a couple of weeks but what of the police general in Udon who ordered police conduct private investigations on behalf of his businessman friend and who knows what else ?

Misunderstanding?

Sure.

He was one of the ones who was 'moved out of the way' so an independent investigation could take place. Remains to be seen from there.

After the police press conference a couple of days ago the BP stated it was believed he had been re-instated to his Udon post despite his supposedly have committed a serious misuse of police resources.

You honestly think that this 'fast track' investigation and prosecution is inspired by some previously unseen zeal to actually do the jobs they are paid to do?

I see that any reference to the deceased monk having intimacy with the wife of the lead accused who owns a hospital has been subtly changed to that of a misunderstanding about the relationship between the deceased monk and a 'female doctor'.

Somewhere there's a possibly a wife involved and somewhere else there's possibly a mia noi. Meanwhile, a local police chief has been officially sidelined. Better put this one to bed before they find too many skeletons in those Isaan cupboards.

Not sure what they mean about the deceased Monks contact with a female Doctor, am I missing something?
