Looking for info about teachers salarys in different class times and programs .

As an example for summer school based on 6 hours a day for a 2 week time frame what would be the average salary for a teacher ?

Weekend classes for Saturday and Sunday classes and usual class hours and salary ?

It is just to get a guide line for teachers salary and class times

Would like to hear about other schedules and salary from TV members who have experience with schedules and salaries

Thanks in advance

There are so many variables that affect salary/hourly rates that's it's difficult to give you a specific answer.

Is there competition for the position? If yes, money is less normally; if no, they pay more usually.

Schedule is very flexible for summer schools. There isn't a standard one.

Are the 6 hours/day contact hours? Are they classroom based? You'll probably just be expected to participate in and/or lead games. Residential ones often come with free resort accommodation.

If you are new to teaching, just be flexible and get some experience that you can add to your CV for when you start the real job search for May starts.

Quite sad today....I was asked to sit in and help interview a Ph.D. English instructor... The near-native English speaker had all the right experiences and attitude...

Then the kicker...salary...quite an amusing back and forth..

What is the salary of the Ph.D. English Instructor....

43K...

I was told 50K

Let's check again, ( checks the web site, calls HR)

43K.

If you want quality you have to pay for it, don't they understand!

Agreed...

Could I work as a part time lecturer?

That's a possibility.

What would the rate per hour start at for the Ph.D. instructor?

About 600-1000 baht per hour.

How about coming back in May? We'll try you out for 2 lectures in the MA program?

Could you confirm the rate first, please.

You know down in Phuket the Ph.D.s, make 120K..

That's nice isn't it.

A PhD adds nothing to classroom skills and ability to teach EFL. Why should a school pay more?

It is part of the TQF ... X amount of research at your institutes means....whoa... a hub of knowledge... I agree, some Ph.D.s are great researchers and should stay out of the classroom, some are great adminstrators, who should never run a conference... and a very few are blessed to inspire students as educators.

One of the problems in Thailand is that schools always seem to find a reason not to pay more.
