Interior Min: Section 44 only for peace and order

BANGKOK, 1 April 2015 (NNT) – The objective of enforcing article 44 after lifting martial law will only be to maintain peace and order of the country, says the Interior Minister.

The Minister of Interior Gen Anupong Paojinda had clarified the implementation of article 44 of the interim constitution, after lifting martial law, saying that the article will be used to maintain the peace and order of the country.

He urged all sides to accept article 44, and be assured that the law will only be used for peacekeeping.

The Interior Minister has further said that the law's implementation will be based on the consideration by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). The enforcement period will be based on the designated timeline of the roadmap, or until Thailand's new constitution is completed.

Why so many press releases if Article 44 is seen as promoting peace and order?

Such a relief to hear that it's not just a blatant move to secure total and absolute power over all the legitimate and democratic checks and balances that may be created in order to over-ride any form of due process!

    I have a presentiment who's peace he is talking about.

    "...Interior Min: Section 44 only for peace and order..."

    They can twist that innocent little statement into justifying anything they want to do to anyone at anytime.
