WHO Official is Being Accused of Maid Abuse

A senior WHO (World Health Organization) official is being accused of maid abuse. Police will summon the official, whose maid accused him of forcing her to live in slake-like conditions.

She goes by the name of Annet, although that’s not her real name. Annet, an Ethiopian housemaid, escaped from the official’s home in Nonthaburi and reported them to the Pak Kred police station on March 18. Her employer, Yonas Tegegn, will be summoned and questioned by police next week..

Annet was assisted by a sub-committee of the Lawyers Council of Thailand. A local NGO accompanied the former maid to file another complaint with Surapong Kongchantuk, a human rights advocate from Lawyers Council of Thailand. Tegegn is being accused of detaining the maid and treating her like a slave. Tegegn and his wife are also being accused of human trafficking.

Allegedly, the couple agreed to pay 2,000 birr a month to the maid’s family, but the family only received 5,000 birr for her initial five months of service. Annet and her family have not been paid since.

Annet alleges that the couple forced her to work from 5 am until midnight. She never received overtime or holiday pay, and the couple allegedly confiscated her passport. The couple is also being accused of not providing the maid with proper food or an adequate place to sleep.

Annet escaped from her employer’s home on March 8 and was found crying in the streets. The former maid has scars on her body, which she alleges were caused by abuse from her employers.

Would like to make a nasty comment but got to wait till I read more from the other side.

Wasn't there a similar case like this a few years back... A teenage that had been disfigured by her so called employers?

How can an ethopian woman work as maid in Thailand?

This guy seems to have high ranking friends..would not be surprised if this woman will be quickly deported. No plaintiff no accussed person blink.png
