April 5, 201511 yr I need to send and receive EMS parcels within Thailand. I know the price is based on weight, but is it also based on distance as well? e.g. would a 100g parcel cost the same using EMS if I sent BKK->BKK vs BKK->Chiang Mai?
April 5, 201511 yr Distance is not part of the calculation, only weight. Here is the rate calculator - http://www.thailandpost.com/rate.php //edit - Appears my error as I was basing on envelops but parcels have an in area and out area charge. http://www.thailandpost.com/rate-result.php
April 5, 201511 yr Author Thanks - it would be (padded) envelopes rather than parcels anyway, so I don't think the in area and out area would apply.
April 6, 201511 yr Superspeed is only available from certain loactions. Main offices, etc. Edited April 6, 201511 yr by wimpy
April 6, 201511 yr It's been a while since I posted anything, but from memory I think there's also the option for standard mail but with a registered post addition for 35 baht on top of normal post prices. That might save a little if price is a consideration. I also found that the website price and the in post office price don't always agree. They usually have a card or faxed price list which is up to date, and they will say to ignore the website price. Sometimes I get the feeling that their scales could do with calibrating as well. The map is not always the territory when it comes to post office adventures.
