Retirement visa requirement (police report?)

Featured Replies

I have applied for my 90 day non immigrant visa and plan to apply for my retirement visa when I arrive in Thailand. My question is: I have heard something about having to supply a police report. Is this something I need to get done here in the states before I go and if so where do I go to get it done?

What you call "retirement visa" is actually an extension of stay. No criminal record certificate is needed for that.

And a health certificate, is that needed for the extension of stay?

Police report and health form ARE required for O-A visa applications in your home country.

OP is not getting an O-A visa but rather a single entry O visa so not needed for that.

For annual retirement extensions done in Thailand, under Thai written law, neither the police report or health form are required and thus should not be presented with the application.

In practical terms though, there have been a few provincial offices sometimes requiring a health form but none that I've heard of requiring a home country police report form.

So the office being used in Thailand may make a difference for the health form (again, don't worry about the police form in Thailand).

In any case, it's no big deal to get a medical form done here in the unlikely even that it is needed.
