MAS denies near-miss with Kuwait Airways aircraft over Pakistan

KUALA LUMPUR: -- Malaysia Airlines has denied that one of its flights to London experienced a near-miss with a Kuwait Airways aircraft over Pakistani airspace on Sunday.

A spokesman for MAS said the airline has avoided Pakistan's airspace due to the increased risk to flight operation safety, following a Safety Information Bulletin (SIB) issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) this year.

The airline demanded that media outlets retract their reports and issue a public apology.

“Malaysia Airlines will not hesitate to take legal action against any party that publishes baseless allegations that could tarnish the airline's reputation," said the spokesman.

According to several news reports, a Kuwait Airways plane was travelling to Islamabad, Pakistan when it narrowly missed a MAS plane heading to London.

If any single commercial or state-run entity of any kind, anywhere doesn't need any more bad press, MAS have got to be top of that pile.

If this pans out to be an actual air near-miss, then if it wasn't for bad luck, they would have no luck at all.

you will have to do some hard work to tarnish their reputation more than what they have done by themselves. You will never get me on one of their flights.

What have MAS actually done themselves to tarnish their reputation...?

- A flight missing with no factual explanation as to what happend/why as of yet...

- A flight illegally brought down by cowards using Russian equipment (over airspace being flown by several international carriers at the time)

I'd wager they are probably one of the safest airlines to fly right at this present time, two unfortunate events dropped on them through no fault of there own

MAS problem doesn't have to do directly with it's past safety record. It has to do with how it handled the situations around the two incidents. There problem is largely one of PR.
