BMA to raise safety standards for Bangkok residents

BANGKOK, 8 April 2015 (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has been planning to enhance safety measures for Bangkok residents by installing more lights and CCTV cameras.

The Bangkok Fire and Rescue Department said the safety of its residents is an important policy of Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paripatra.

Under his policy, there are 18 types of danger, 14 of which are natural disasters and the remaining four are human threats.

The most frequent dangers reported in Bangkok consist of flood, fire and wind hazards, as well as building collapse and chemical leakage.

Safety measures will be implemented over two decades. The BMA will focus on increasing street lights and CCTV cameras in areas prone to crimes.

It will also introduce a rail transport system to commuters to alleviate traffic congestion and improve water management to prevent flooding.

The BMA has also been working on a contingency plan to handle emergency situations. In times of emergency, victims are expected to receive assistance even after the crisis has abated.

How about enforcing the law equally would be a good start. like would be nice to walk on sidewalk without dodging motorbikes. At 63 not as nimble as I use to be.

When I ride my motorbike on the right lane they are there. coffee1.gif

So they will have more youtube video of buildings collapsing. Wonderful, just wonderful.

Why only Bangkok? blink.png

The most frequent dangers reported in Bangkok EARTH, WIND, FIRE I thought this was a band.

THE DANGERS BANGKOKIAN'S FACE: FIRE, WIND, RAIN, BUILDINGS COLLAPSING ,and the occasional Chemical spill. Food poisoning and being struck by a moving object get honorable mention.

Don't forget falling vehicles or students from above. ;)

But BMA's safety measures will be implemented over two decades?

Tornadoes? Nope. Hurricanes in Bangkok? Nope. Hail storms? Nah. Where are these wind storms coming from? Frankly, I spend most days just praying for a breeze. But I have noticed that my Thai friends get a little antsy and even downright fearful when the wind blows hard enough to bend a few tree branches. But in all the storms I've seen, here, I've really never seen any with winds strong enough to uproot a healthy tree. But if the authorities are fearful that high winds could do something to some of these poorly constucted high rise condos, then they might have a point.

I think they forgot about burning landfills and their resulting toxic smoke.

Not to mention, the Thai ladies who like to cut off men's XXXX.
