It rains a lot for a 'hot season' in Pattaya 2015 ... ;)

Featured Replies

Another absolute ripper drenching the city this afternoon - hopefully it will wash away the scousers who've threatened to make Songkran especially memorable miserable for the rest of us !

Bring it down, Huey old mate, bring it down.

We need it too, bring it on, espcialy from the 13th to 20th

ahh well looks like it set in for awhile now so guess i'll be wet outside as well as inside.

Certainly never use to rain as much if at all in the November to end of April period.

The days of cloudless skies week after week have long gone....

It rains a lot for a 'hot season' thats because its not the hot season yet ???

March to june is classed as the "hot season".

Thanks Don Mega.

@jerry123, try to keep up mate - its not that hard to work it out a few days from Songkran. No secret that April is the hottest month in both Thailand and Cambodia - happy to see any meteorological data you have that proves otherwise.

Ooooooo goody another scouse bashing thread.

Was it one scouse lad who's bringing some of his mates over?

Not exactly gone ruin songkran is lad. Pattaya is a pretty big place.

Not only in Pattaya.

Some might have missed, that heavy weather is forecast for the coming days.

Here in Khon Kaen we had a heavy thunderstorm yesterday resulting in a long hour power outage.

Two days ago we had 39 Celsius (102 F).

Let me say: "the mild days are over" whistling.gif

April not hot season???

Some posters seem to lack essential experience.

Every year:

what will be the headline on 26th/27th April?

-> Year's peak power consumption due to heavy use of aircon.

26th/27th April sun reaching zenith in Bankok (90 degrees).

In Pattaya a couple days earlier.

8 May at our place.

Hot hot hot!

In the six years I have been here April and May to my memory have always been hot and bone dry. This year is definitely different. We have had showers and storms through March continuing through to April with even a cool cloudy period at the end of March. Forgot to mention I am living in Kamphaeng Phet.

As for 'ruin Songkran' I suspect that others can do that without any help from the scousers.

LOL "Hot season". "Hot and wet" or "hot and dry" would be a more appropriate way of naming the seasons.

April:

Precipitation

The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 69 mm, that's 3 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 4 days of the month.

I take it you werent here in Jan when many of us were commenting on the fact that it actually felt 'cold' in Pattaya at night. Many of the Thais were wearing jackets and pullovers in Pattaya - a first IME. The 'cool season' might be short lived but its real enough - many of us had coughs we couldnt get rid of until it warmed up again.

Well I am out of it for a month or so, just arrived back in New Zealand 9/4/15 oh and am a Scouse, live in Khon Kaen, we are 10-15 mins out of the city and our village has had no rains, winds and so hot, 39-42c most every day, but lovely here in NZ cool an green.

Aha - the advance party for Stickman's reintegration into NZ society after 20+ years in Thailand, eh ? What are we talking - a hangi washed down with a case of Steinlager ? I'm afraid your 'cool and green' is my 'bloody cold, wet and green' but whatever floats yer boat. Enjoy.

Today in Auckalnd it is 24deg C.... I wish it was only going to go to 24degC here today.

if it pores down like yesterday, will the crazies just stay home ? or still go throw water in everybody's faces ?

How long did it rain for yesterday and how long is songkran in Pattaya.....

I reckon there will be crazies throwing water at some stage.

And believe me, that is a good thing. Rain is a blessing. Much of the world is locked in massive drought, and Thailand is too. It needs the rain. It is normal, natural, and good for the country and its people, so quit moaning, and enjoy the rains. And who wants cloudless skies this time of year? Rain brings cooler temps. What is the issue with that? Personally, I cannot get enough of the storms. Love every minute of each one.

So true!

All the reservoirs are on a low level and the long term prognosis is for a dry year (El Niño in full swing).

(don't want to conceal that the prognosis has been wrong in the past years)

So be happy even about a short period of rain/thunderstorms.

I love an evening shower. Refreshing and cooling.

Scousers? Liverpudlians are responsible for your having miserable Pattaya Songkrans?

Apparently the whole ten of them.

The original comment was obviously in tongue n cheek.

I kinda got that - can we move on from the Fab Four and back to the weather in Pattaya ? I thought tonight's little stroll down to Beach Road, around through Central and back to my joint via Buakhow was about as agreeable as any late afternoon I've ever spent in central Pattaya - light breeze and minimal traffic. No-one in the restaurants, very few in Central Festival and a sprinkling of punters in the bars - if it wasnt so depressing to see a 'high season' like this I might have actually enjoyed this as a weekend warrior.

As for throwing water already, I'll post a photo of the only person I saw doing so in the relevant thread : suffice to say that the Chinese tourists didnt seem overly impressed but the 5 or 6 busloads of them belting down Third Road on the way back left me wondering if the tour guides have given them any advance warning at all.

Coming down so hard this afternoon I cant even hear the DVD I'm trying to watch ...

finished for the moment.

The sphincter has been clenched tight as Iam 10% into a NAS hdd failure rebuild. will take another 20 hours and stupidly I did not put the NAS on a UPS before I started.

Fingers crossed the power does not go out.

I came from Siracha this afternoon. Some areas were flooded.
