What are your experiences with technical support?

Tacx: I wrote 1 email and asked if my extreme old device can be upgraded somehow: Got an answer very fast (can not).

Another email: It shows the burned Kcal. But the guide is not clear if it shows the actual used energy or the estimate what the body burned food. The answered fast with the formula that the device uses and explanation.

(That part is something like 15 years old).

Look: My pedals have a little play even they are brand new. I wrote an email if it can be adjusted and if it is normal. Never received any answer (but yes it is normal and no it can not be adjusted).

Shimano: Asked a question about the wobbeling....no answer so far....And I guess non will ever come.

Off topic not bike:

I sent an email to Kingston to verify MicroSD (Original or Fake) which I had for resell....immediate answer.

I sent an email to SKF about bearings I bought for customer: very slow answer, but at the end clear.

Siemens: Fast answer that they need all my company details to answer any question and than no answer.

What is your experiences? Of course broken parts and warranty issues are even more interesting than silly questions....But also silly questions should be answered considering how overpriced all these products are (compare bicycle parts with motorbike parts.....)

I had a giant halfway folding bike in the UK which I commuted to work on every day. I managed to snap a long bolt where the frame folds trying to eliminate a squeak. I emailed Giant Uk. They responded fast and within 48 hours I had a replacement bolt free of charge. They didn't ask how old the bike was or where I purchased it, just fixed the problem efficiently. I hold giant in high regard as they also make good bikes at all price levels.

I have heard many bad things about Cervelo re warranty faults. Giant on the other hand helped just helped me out. I had bought the bike second hand on ebay they weren't bothered! They just wanted to help. Nice.
