bannork
I used to love watching the 5 day Test matches on the BBC in the school holidays in the 60s and early 70s. With commentators like Richie Benaud, Brian Johnston, Bill Frindall, and on the radio the unforgettable John Arlott, their knowledge, comments and banter just made every match come so alive. As a boy,I used to dream of one day patting the crease down, cap pulled down shielding the eyes against the late afternoon sun, as Wes Hall came hurtling down the other end, delivering a ferociously fast bouncer which I brilliantly dispatched to the boundary to rapturous applause from the fans at the Oval. RIP Richie, you brought cricket alive.
beechbum
Just saw this, It'll be strange to not have the great mans comments on all things cricket (mainly Aus of course), a 100% legend and he's up there with the Don keeping a close eye on our return to form in the game. RIP old mate, I'll raise a glass to you. Edited April 11, 2015 by beechbum
