I live in Vientiane and a close friend of mine needs to go to Udon Thani tomorrow morning to have a minor surgery and it is a bit of an emergency (hospitals in Laos are not sufficient for this). I will go with him to make sure he is okay (I speak Thai) and would like to take him to a good hospital that is also affordable. I am not sure which hospital to take him to as I have noticed there are several in UT. Could someone please advise as to what would be best in terms of price/quality? I don't believe he has insurance.

Why don't you go a little farther to the University Hospital in KK. Of course this being the Songkran Holliday, it's not the best time for any hospital. However I think the best and cheapest would be the University Hospital in KK.

I would only do it if it is out patient. That place is a zoo unless you are able to get a private room.

I had heard there are some good hospitals at Udon.Maybe go to Udonmap and put it on the forum
