April 13, 201511 yr Hello, everyone!Just got back from a wonderful trip to Pattaya. Spent a few days there walking around the Beach Road and the surrounding areas.I have to say that the experience, being the first, wasn't bad at all and I actually want to go back.I've had the chance to visit Koh Larn....I didn't even dare swim in Pattaya but Koh Larn was a much better beach with cleaner water.A question in my mind has been been bugging me. Where does a small island like Koh Larn gets its electricity?Does it have its own power plant there somewhere? Have a fun and safe Songkran Holiday!

April 13, 201511 yr Author Underwater power cable. http://www.yourpattaya.com/kohlarn_solar_power_wind_generators.html This pretty much answers my question! That must be a very long cable going there... Thanks for the information!
April 14, 201511 yr That must be a very long cable going there... Yep, approx 8 km (5 miles) And 300 million Baht is more than some pocketmoney Much bigger, longer and expensive are the cables to Ko Samui and Ko Phangan e.g. Three phase undersea power cable, a small one I suppose: Source: https://www.facebook.com/ElectricalRm/posts/877502452263156 Some more pics from this source: https://www.facebook.com/ElectricalRm/photos/a.722904221056314.1073741862.422449687768437/877502422263159/?type=1&permPage=1 The cable for Samui was manufactured in Norway (!) and transported by ship to Thailand. It additionally contained fibre optic cable for internet connection. http://www.nexans.no/eservice/Norway-en/navigate_310086/Koh_Samui_.html Edited April 14, 201511 yr by KhunBENQ
