Electricity

Featured Replies

Hello, everyone!

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Pattaya.
Spent a few days there walking around the Beach Road and the surrounding areas.
I have to say that the experience, being the first, wasn't bad at all and I actually want to go back.

I've had the chance to visit Koh Larn....
I didn't even dare swim in Pattaya but Koh Larn was a much better beach with cleaner water.

A question in my mind has been been bugging me.

Where does a small island like Koh Larn gets its electricity?
Does it have its own power plant there somewhere?

Have a fun and safe Songkran Holiday!

That must be a very long cable going there...

Yep, approx 8 km (5 miles)

And 300 million Baht is more than some pocketmoney tongue.png

Much bigger, longer and expensive are the cables to Ko Samui and Ko Phangan e.g.

Three phase undersea power cable, a small one I suppose:

The cable for Samui was manufactured in Norway (!) and transported by ship to Thailand.

It additionally contained fibre optic cable for internet connection.
