Not being a political analyst or a man who understands most things countries do. I need some help here trying to understand Japans stand with flights from Thailand. Japan seems to be saying to Thailand that their airport is open but Thai flights are soon going to be unable to fly there. Why Thailand? Is that an Asian way of none confrontation but making a point? And if so what is the point Japan is trying to make? Is this the being of a rift between Japan and Thailand? So many questions when an old man has too much free time.

whistling.gifI was just reading an article on that in the "other English Language newspaper" . (the Bangkok Post)

The safety regulations that Thai airlines must comply with are not Japanese regulations they are from The ICAO which is an international regulatory body all international air carriers must comply with

The Japanese have allowed Thai air carriers time until 31 May to comply with these requirements.

There are six Thai registered carriers that do not comply right now with at least some of these safety requirements.

These carriers have until 31 May to comply with the regulations.

Right now these 6 Thai based carriers have been told NOT to book passengers or sell tickets from Thailand to Japan on their flights after 31 May until they are either compliant with the regulations or have corrected the safety problems.

Some of the safety discrepancies have to do with Pilot flight hour limitations and flight crew safety training requirements (certifications).

This is going to cause problems for Thai carriers to Japan..... and maybe other countries also.

South Korea and China may also come into this..... we will have to wait and see what happens.
