One of my mates who runs a resort on KP has told me that TescoLotus has already bought land on the island for a store. Many people complain about the larger stores, but cant get enough of the cheap prices. Customers vote with their feet, the larger stores arent forcing people to shop there. They just offer them what they want and the fact that the stores are packed with customers shows that.

Seems like the people on KP will get a good deal out of the store. I hear prices are quite expensive there.

I've heard the rumor that they bought land (on the Madeuwan road before the police station)--also heard they have no plans to develop it for quite a few years. Guess Koh P just doesn't have the population to support it.

I think the rule of thumb with large super markets is:

Small size outlet population of 10,000 +

Large one like Samui 40,000 +

You never know SBK,they might put a large Express Mart for starters.
