Taking Baby out of Thailand

We recently want to travel to Vietnam for holiday. We got passports for my partner and son.

Booked tickets and arrived at the airport.

When we arrived at immigration we were asked to go with the immigration officer.

We were asked for my sons birth certificate which we did not have with us.

We were asked could we go and get it. Not possible 2 hour drive.

There was much deliberation and eventually we were allowed to travel, but not until we were told many times with out birth certificate we could not travel.

I do not understand all this information is logged on the computer when you get the passport why do they have to see it again.

I was with my partner his mother and I am his Dad registered when we got his passport.

I am posting this to warn others to be prepared if they are taking a little one out of the country. Have their birth certificate with you.

I am sure if we had been going to England we would not have been allowed to travel.
