More evidence sought in govt graft probe

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam has ordered the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) to find additional evidence of graft against some of the 115 Interior Ministry officials on a blacklist.

He said PACC secretary-general Prayong Preeyachitt met him on Wednesday to provide more evidence as requested. He claimed he also asked Prayong to check if there were more corrupt officials linked to those on the blacklist and why none had been prosecuted before.

"Some allegedly committed wrongdoings a long time ago but no action has been taken against them. Is it possible their superiors have been negligent?" Wissanu said.

"If that is the case, they must also face legal action. Whoever causes a delay in prosecution must have action taken against them also."

He said the government would have to bring in new blood to replace fired or suspended officials.

"We may not need to have new people if the officials who are replaced are lower-ranking officials since we can reshuffle officials within the ministry," he said.

This was supposed to be the definitive list of the Top 100, now 115, corrupt officials with other lists to come.

Now more evidence is needed against some ! oh dear, is anyone really surprised since very little here is ever as presented in the initial fanfare.

It is good to know that new people may not be needed as lower level officials can be re-shuffled. So job done then and no need for drama.

Originally, it was supposed to be a list of 100 corrupt govt officials in general.

Now, it's a list of 115 ONLY in the Interior Ministry... My my.... aren't that lot a bunch of busy beavers....

What about everywhere else???

One word adequately sums up the OP ... DUH!

If they EVER produced an accurate list and decided to imprison the lot then the only solution would be to build a wall around Thailand and declare it a penal colony.
