Hi! I am looking to design and launch a clothing line in Bangkok

I am looking for an experienced sample maker / pattern maker

Someone much better than your run-of-the mill suit tailors

Someone preferably who works in high fashion

Any leads?

THANKS

Are you going to be selling these in Thailand or the West ?

If the West bring some samples of what you need in all the sizes

Go to Walmart - Tesco GB etc and buy one piece / every size of a design close to what you want

then go to the fabric area of Walmart and buy some pre-made paper patterns . http://www.simplicity.com/

Now figure out the fabric and weight.....

Lastly find out how much of a hassle it is to import to your country and what kind of tag you need to have on the garment.

Now you have something to show the Tailor :)

and if you find a good shop that can make button down shirts let me know !

A couple more things.......

Pockets are important , but also if you have a print like Flowered Hawaiian shirts it is important that the pocket design matchs the print ,

if you look at the quality shirts you can see that they do this.

I really like 2 pockets but that seems to be more with work shirts, but I have my phone in one pocket and often a notepad in the other

you also need to tell the sewing shop what is "up" and what is "down" as far as the print design,

also what is inside and outside ,

20. years go there was a fad of selling Hawaiian shirts sewn inside out , not sure if anyone would but them today ,

plus add an extra button in case one gets lost......

I am not sure if anyone ever did a "limited edition" shirt and numbered them but it might be an interesting hook :)

There is a lot of profit in clothes , but also too much competition unless it is linked with a product that you are selling,

But you can always give the unsold ones away for Christmas and Birthday presents.....

and as an "extra" look into having them embroidered or if its a "label" you are trying to promote have baseball caps embroidered with the logo......

good luck.......
