Yeah better stick with Doctor Prayuth's teletubbies, invoke some fairy tales from the 1950's and think everything will go back to where it was in the golden days. Don't think for a second society has changed, noooo!

Thailand will be divided and see conflict as long as there is no attempt to start a serious dialogue, without taboos, examining the underlying conditions that have led to the present situation.

But too much saving face, so they prefer to fight, instead of admitting their own mistakes.

They all say they love Thailand, but what do they love exactly? The telephone poles?

Dialog between who ?

it is part of the Thaksin agenda to create divide, it was easy when you could identify the simple red/yellow diversity but now that doesn't exist, yellows are gone, what you have now are Thaksins handful of red terrorists with diminishing support and the rest of Thailand, the red leaders might be carrying on like they are in opposition to something but what is clear to me is that they have no mandate to represent anyone and no opposition to fight, they are a bunch of radicals that are trying and failing to create divide at the behest of the criminal on the run but it isn't working.

They have made several attempts to stir things up using bombs and propaganda TV shows but all have failed to rouse any interest from the populace, IMO the reds lost any support they might have had when the children were murdered on the streets of Trat and they were seen to be publically gloating and rejoicing from a stage in North Thailand

The current situation is not ideal and the PM has an issue with diplomacy that is doing him no favours but he is being effective at routing out otherwise undisclosed criminals and bringing them to justice, the political landscape here has been a disgrace for many years just as history records it, they have failed repeatedly to stamp out graft and abuse of power in political office, is there a chance that this new charter will be the one that forces the lot of them to abide by the rules and the law - who knows, the sooner it is implemented and elections are held the better, and hopefully the new elected government will carry on routing out the criminals and reforming the country for the betterment of all

You are very naive.

" it is part of the Thaksin agenda to create divide" No. Thaksin managed to unify Thais as never before, witnessed by the 2005 election results, where there was a record turn out & a 1st ever absolute majority. Thailand was prosperous & happy until Sonthi Lim and his backers decided to 'create divide', as you put it. Again in 2013 Suthep (& the same backers) 'created divide'. It seems that the junta apologists accept creating divide as long as it's against a Shinawatra government.

You imply that the red leaders " have no mandate to represent anyone" which is obviously not based on the last valid election where they proved to be the leading factor in the PTP victory. Before the 2011 election TV members were crowing that the reds had lost their support & no-one would support criminals & terrorists, but they were proven very wrong. Who you believe to be criminals & terrorists a great proportion of the electorate consider to be the persecuted rightful leaders & freedom fighters.

You have to love all the names chosen such as Peace TV run by redshirts, the Thai Love Thai Party and Thai Researchers for Community Happiness.

Who was it that said ' what's in a name ' ?

Juliet said it in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

A rose/By any other name.....

That is, no matter what you call a rose ( say, "dog turd"?) it would still smell like a "rose".

How many here have the language ability to understand what is being said on these channels. I spent years honing my listening comprehension skills listening to Thai parliament. I then spent equal amounts of time listening to red, yellow & government TV. I can confidently say that they all distort the truth & have their own agenda. Problem here is that only 1 is being dealt with. This is simply a continuation of the one-sided justice being dealt out to red activists, PTP members, Bonanza...

As Daniel Russel said. “When an elected leader is deposed, impeached by the authorities that implemented the coup, and then targeted with criminal charges while basic democratic processes and institutions are interrupted, the international community is left with the impression that these steps could be politically driven.” Japan Times

I am fluent in the language called shouting, and can easily spot a display of chest beating when I see it.

You don't need to understand all the words when the delivery mechanism of them is patently meant to inflame.

I seem to recall some similar chest beating on blue sky TV, I don't speak Thai but I can also spot mannerisms and body language that are inflammatory in nature.

Do you have a serious point to make or just like the different flavours of Kool aid?

Both sides of the political divide ramp up the rhetoric it's called showboating.

Democracy ... Thai style. When those that wish to speak the truth, uncover the corruption, highlight the issues of human trafficking, slavery and all the other ills facing this country the only thing open to the likes of Prayut and his junta is to attempt to silence and eradicate any form of criticism in the hope that the underlying issues can be conveniently swept under the carpet.

Things will only get worse.

They don't like the truth or criticism of their manufactured truth.

Closing down TV stations because they challenge the Governments version of events is not a good sign for the future and the people of this country

Natthawut Saikua and the truth?

Come on......He is one of the worst, his true changes by the minutes.

LOL!

So what did you think of Suthep's speeches?

Can't comment.

Self censorship and all that, but carry on all those who think Thailand is headed for a free and enlightened future.

As you have partaken in censorship yourself you are clearly not against censorship.

Prayut IS carrying on in his quest for a free and enlightened future - we are almost there now that the detritus has been removed!!

Why do you state that you can't comment and then comment? Did you wake up confused or did something bring it on?

Thai 'Red Shirt' leader rails against TV ban threat
Thailand

Bangkok
The leader of Thailand's 'Red Shirt' movement hit out Tuesday at plans to take his pro-democracy television network off the air, in the latest strike against freedom of expression in the military-ruled kingdom.

The National Telecommunication Commission (NTC), Thailand's media regulator, has said it plans to suspend the broadcasting license for Peace TV, which features a daily programme by Jatuporn Prompan, chairman of the Red Shirts, whose votes helped to elect the toppled administration of Yingluck Shinawatra.

Regulators accuse Peace TV of failing to abide by an agreement with junta officials that it stay clear of politics.

On Monday, NTC commissioner Natee Sukonrat said Peace TV would be banned because the network is "still airing content that leads to conflicts".

The move comes as the Red Shirt movement prepares to mark a 2010 military crackdown on protests that left more than 90 dead, the majority demonstrators.

Pro-democracy campaigners are also likely to try to mark the anniversary of last year's coup on May 22.

Speaking on the channel, Jatuporn denied causing divisions and threatened to take the media regulators to court if his show was unplugged.

"There was no message causing division in the entire program. I keep telling people to be patient and not to leave this theatre until the movie has ended," he said.

"I will fight until the end... At the end of the day it's difficult to be good boy in this country," he added.

The country's sharply polarised political channels were one of the first casualties of the censorship imposed following the declaration of martial law and the coup last May.

But a ban on them was lifted around three months later on the condition they stayed away from controversial issues or criticising the military regime.

Since the coup last May, leaders of the Red Shirts, officially known as the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), have either renounced the cause, fled into self-exile or -- like Jatuporn -- agreed to abandon politics.

Jatuporn's once rabble-rousing television rhetoric was staple viewing in the Red heartlands of northern Thailand where Yingluck -- and her billionaire brother Thaksin Shinawatra -- are adored for their pro-poor policies.

Under junta rules Peace TV had toned-down its tirades against the Bangkok-based elite but in recent months Jatuporn has spoken more directly against the ruling regime.

In early April the network was taken off the air for seven days following a spat with the military over its content.

Thailand has been riven by bitter political divisions since 2006, when Thaksin's government was ousted in an earlier military coup, backed by the Bangkok-based royalist establishment.

They despise the Shinawatras -- whose parties have won every election since 2001 -- accusing them of poisoning politics with populism, corruption and cronyism.

"Yellow Shirt" or anti-Thaksin channels were also taken off air after the coup with several rebranding themselves once the ban was lifted.

It highlights the lie, which has never made any sense to me at all.

You know that when a country has Democratic in its name, it is anything but, same thing when the word Peace is used.

The Peoples Peaceful Democratic Republic of Thailand?

And you know when it has the word "People's" in it, it's anything but. Good choice of names.

Der People's Peaceful Democratik Republik of Thailand.

The grammatical errors in this sentence infuriate me more than the claim that Thaksin's and Yingluck's policies were "pro-poor".

FYI...The junta chief has a 4 year college education in crap. Actually he is one of the least educated PMs to ever steal Thaialnd from the people. He isnt capable of leading a country. He isnt capable of understanding the world. He isnt capable of understanding politics inside or outside his country. He is a soldier that is all and a very basic one at that. I suspect one who bought his way through the ranks with his father's money.

He is doing nothing more than purging the old regime out. He doesnt know anything else.

Did you take double of your negative pills this morning?

Another example of democracy the Prayuth way.

If it gets rid of the lies and propaganda from both sides of the political spectrum, then it's a good thing. Right?

And the lies and propaganda being pushed out presently?

Yep I agree with you if it gets rid of them it's a good thing, but reality is much different. Unless it's an across the board clampdown, then it's being selective as to whom is being silenced.

What a pointless and empty rant!!

I couldn't care a jot about his academic education - education in life is far more relevant.

More kudos to the man for doing an amazing job in rejuvenating the country.

Can you honestly say that Yingluck achieved more in her 4 years than Prayut has in less than a year. If you claim that Yingluck wins the day then your opinion on anything means nothing as you would truly be delusional and shows that you have zero grasp of life!!

Achieved what exactly. If previous Prime Ministers had had the full backing of the Army , imposed Marshall law and Section 44 , whatever that is, then they also may have achieved "Peace", Paid the farmers and brought the possibility of highly priced uneconomical High speed Railways. Its all fun an games when you dont allow opposition to what you want to do. Not saying any of them in the past and been Brilliant, But you cannot compare this regime to ones elected democratically
