The sooner they legalise that stuff the better. It's a natural plant that some people like to smoke for goodness sake.

should they also legalise Heroin and Cocaine because both are derived from natural plants?

You are being very silly and supporting a Party Line. More people die from alcohol-- bring back Prohibition should be your cry!!

Thailand "used" to be famous for Thai Stick Marijuana-- Oooops, had to follow the American Way!

Maybe the Thais could prohibit the sale of alcohol from 2PM to 5PM-- Oh, already took that big preventative measure!

Pot smokers are not aggressive and war-like. Pot should Not be put in the same category as Coke and Heroin.

Yaba (methamphetamines) are the worst problem in SE Asia-- haven't noticed any Public Service Programs to explain just how bad it really is-- used to be called Public Education-- probably should be a preferred agenda of the Government.

If I remember correctly, the U.S. Army did a study of marijuana use in the 1940's. I think they determined, the worst side effect was the munchies ( desire to eat )clap2.gif

I correct myself:

C. Common effects of mariajuana observed in users:

1. No deprivation symptoms were observed even in those who admitted smoking eight to ten cigarettes the day previous to admission to hospital.

2. With the exception of three, all after smoking showed symptoms of mild intoxication. They lost reserve, became animated, laughed without adequate cause, and talked foolishly. During this stage, which lasted for half an hour to an hour or so, neurological and mental tests were performed as well as previously. There was no tendency to combativeness or destructiveness.

3. All stated they were very hungry after smoking and the quantity of food consumed at their subsequent meal confirmed this statement.

4. Pulse rate was markedly increased from a few moments after smoking first cigarette to an hour or more. There was no appreciable variation in blood pressure before and after smoking. There were no other distinctive physiological changes observed, other than a tendency to sleep, in which some indulged for a short while an hour or two after smoking.

5. No ill effects from smoking mariajuana for several days in succession were observed even when the soldiers were given mariajuana ad libitum.

Bac a while I did some volunteer work for a charity set up to help grandparents that had taken there addicted childrens children in rather than see them in care. Any way One was telling me how this particular school child was now suddenly becoming violent they said it had been happening since the kid had started smoking weed,

we were like,, nah,, aint normal reaction from weed ,, but on further it was skunk on a developing mind,,, and i've worked with guy's who wouldnt tell the 'system' that overdoing drugs were the reason they were sectioned but on the qt they all admitted it. There is a link between drugs and mental health NO DOUBTS and its foolish to deny it or gloss it over.

Edit oh and i dont know if i'm the only one but i find your color type really dificult to read.

Because you like smoking it should not make it legal. Contrary to what you are going to say, doctors have show it does have a negative effect when smoked for a long time.

NOPE! Completely untrue! Even in Jamaica where an ounce or more was smoked each day, there was a reduced evidence of lung disease when compared to the nonsmoking population. Today, there have been no cases of lung cancer or emphysema from puffing. In fact, it is often chosen as treatment of choice. So, put that in yer pipe!

Who said the negative effect was lung cancer?

The war on drugs is not being won, I thought we would have learned from the US prohibition of alcohol. It allowed organised crime to get a foot hold and didn't stop people from drinking.

To all posters who say they don't do drugs you may not be doing what is referred to as illicit drugs but I bet you are doing some drug of some sort. Enjoy.

Viagra or Indian Generics of it are the over 60's choice of recreational drugs. Ah, we still remember the "birth of the pill" and flower power/free love, except it was never was, & is never is, free. But the effect of the little blue pill is more fun than getting "the munchies."

A revealing answer and telltale of the true agenda... It's not and never has been "just" about marijuana.

Addicts will always find away. After herion and Cocaine was so restricted addicts came up with crack, p , yaba all much more dangerous drugs. More peoples lives are taken from the prison sentences and the death sentences and the drug smugglers fighting with police than the drug itself. People should be free to put in their own bodies what they want to
Agreed. It's hypocritical when thousands in Thailand die or suffer serious medical conditions every year from ingestion of alcohol and/or tobacco and yet marijuana, which has a non existent harm rate, can get you executed for possession. Edited by tominbkk

"He said he has delivered marijuana six times – about 30 t 40 kgs each".

Elevator's not going all the way up.

Perhaps he thinks execution would be better than the rest of your life in a Thai prison. Could be right about it.
