May 1, 201511 yr I am looking for a service which can provide reliable geocoding for Thai addresses. The service from Google is beyond horrible, as it fails more than 80% of the time, and that is after implementing a Levenshtein algorithm to correct English spelling variances and translate them into Thai. What I am really looking for is someone who has access to the cadastral maps for the Bangkok area, and can use that to generate coordinates. The fact is that Thai house numbers must be unique within a tambol and district. The street name can actually be completely ignored, so I fail to understand why it is so difficult to get reliable data. This is for use in a delivery service. If anyone knows of a source for this kind of information, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
May 2, 201511 yr There was this topic about high accuracy GPS but I don't know if this is what you are looking for: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?/topic/728370-Field-mapping---how-to-do-good-enough? The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
May 3, 201511 yr I have problems to understand this expert talk. But it sounds like you expect to get coordinates for a given adress (house number)? The fact is that Thai house numbers must be unique within a tambol and district. If you mean house number consisting of plot number and muban nr. then yes. A house number alone (like 340) is not unique within the tambon. A "340 moo 1, tambon xyz" resp "340 mu 1, tambon xyz" would be unique. But anyway: often asked for but never heard that the cadastral data is available online/digital. An old dream: enter address and get coordinates of the house (like you can do in Germany e.g.). Levenshtein algorithm to overcome/fight the transcription chaos? Interesting, Also never heard of. Edited May 3, 201511 yr by KhunBENQ
