Upon cancelling their service they said they would send someone out to get their box and other things and mail me a refund "check" for the 1000 baht paid on deposit at the time of service start.

Now I hear that their "check" is really a credit for future service and not a refund after all.

Can anyone comment on this??

If you paid a TrueVisions deposit you are suppose to get that money back; not a credit for future service. I'm guessing you got some bad info from someone.

Now when you terminate your TrueVisions service/turn in the box(es), True will probably say you'll get refund in 3 to 4 weeks. And they may say you will first get a notice of the refund in approx 2-3 weeks after box turn-in/pick-up which is basically a pink piece of paper which looks kinda like a check, but really it's just confirmation to you all the necessarily actions have been completed to issue a refund check....the deposit refund check "should" follow a few weeks after that.

However, but, in the two cases of me getting a deposit refund from TrueVisions (actually the Thai wife getting refund as the account was in the wife's name)...once for termination of service and once just for turning in one of two boxes, the process took over 3 months and around 6 weeks, respectively. And the over 3 months refund required a lot of followups/phone calls/visits to a service center...they just flat out messed up on this refund...the wife gave them some stern words during follow-up visits/calls. The the other refund which was about a year later didn't require any follow-ups. Our deposits were Bt2,000 per box.

Your results will no doubt vary....this was our results...the wife and I live in Bangkok...seems some people get the refund in a month or so...others have a longer wait.

I won't go into TrueMove billing...we cancelled our post paid service with TrueMove after six months serveral years back because their bills just couldn't seem to find our mailbox...TrueVisions bills and all other utility bills always find out mailbox but the TrueMove bills just couldn't. Since TrueMove, TrueVisions, and TrueOnline are different business units under the parent True they all have different billing systems...hopefully the TrueMove billing service for postpaid service is better now. We switched to DTAC postpaid service and their bills also always find our mailbox.
