Instaling iTunes for audio conversion programs.

I am sampleing a number of audio conversion programs.

Some of them are saying "itunes not installed" when I try to convert a file.

Does anybody have a link to the exact itunes that they want me to install.

Probably any version will do for audio stuff. But 10.5.3 and 10.6.3 were the last versions to work with requiem for decrypting. The old installers are floating around out there, pretty readily available. Newest version is at apple. I've converted my audible audio books, and the ripper I used didn't care what version of iTunes I had, it just needed that I had SOMETHING that could play the files.

Audiobooks are my main hobby and I want to treat myself to the best

right,

i've got my paid version of soundtaxi going again with itunes.

it was running with just a plugin before which was a lot smaller

but i can't find it now.

soundtaxi is slow and sometimes there's a chapter missing in the converted file.

amersoft looks better and is 15 dollars more expensive.

does anybody have any expierance of comparing the 2 before i splash out.

I refuse to allow ANY apple software on my computers.

To the OP, there are plenty of alternatives to anything that requires an apple product be installed.

On Apple, yes, on Windows, definitely not. iTunes on Windows is awful.

What are you looking to do - transcoding? If so, Audacity is free, good and likely to cover any output you wish to encode to.

Is it worth learning,is it faster than SoundTaxi,it couldn't be slower.

Requiem is fast and free. Decrypts drm'd music,books,and movies from iTunes library. Works on windows and Mac. (not advocating piracy btw, just liberating what you own to play on other devices).

I use DRM Decrypter (on windows) to decrypt my books bought from Audible. Not many programs out there that can do audible books. I think what you're using is basically the same as what I use. All the program seems to do is sort of use iTunes to play the book through, and saves the output as an mp3. Which is why it takes hours to convert.
