30 or 45 Days Before Non 'O' Admitted Until Expires - Chiang Mai Immigration

Featured Replies

I have read conflicting stories on the forum with regards Chiang Mai Immigration. Having once been caught up in the changes initiated in December 2014 and having had to jump through some unforeseen hoops, I would like any solid information on my question.

This is SPECIFIC to Chiang Mai Immigration office ONLY.

Can I apply for my FIRST extension of stay based on RETIREMENT within the last 45 days of my Admitted Until Date or do I have to wait until the last 30 days ?

I don't want to get the bank letter and turn up 45 days before, only to be told I have to do it in the final 30 days and then have to get another bank letter a couple of weeks later.

Thank you in advance.

Why not simply ask at the CM Immigration Office ?

I forgot to mention, I have already called Chiang Mai Immigration on 053201755 to no avail.

The lady answering the 'phone didn't speak or want to communicate in English and I have little knowledge of Thai. Certainly not to communicate my question in Thai.

If anyone has a better 'phone number for contact at CM Immigration, I'd be happy to call again, if they will be able to understand and reply in English.

Thanks

Do it at the 30 days before date. That will give you plenty of time to get any paper work issue sorted, Just be sure you have 800k baht in the bank in your name only for 60 days on the date you apply

If it were me, I would ask a Thai friend to make the call for me.

You might also consider getting the friend to phone and book an appointment for you. (Though when I tried that before, all the slots were taken on the online system)

I just saw a post about a chap queuing at 02:30 - yes that early, to be sure of getting a queue ticket for action that day.....

I have moved away from CM now but even a of year ago, turning up at 06:00 may not get you seen....

A pain in the proverbial

Best of luck.
