Hi all,

I am considering marrying a Thai gal and want to find work in Thailand the official way. Unfortunately, I have a recent DUI & marijuana possession conviction in the US. Other than that, all clean. Since both are misdemeanors, will it be a hindrance to me applying for work permit and/or marriage to my Thai girlfriend? Also, how about if in the future I apply for permanent residency and/or retire in Thailand would my criminal history affect this. How could I clean it up?

At the moment criminal history is only checked if you apply for a Retirement Visa at an Embassy, so do not worry too much about it.

Ordinary visas and work permits procedures do not check.

There may be a check when you apply for Permanent Residence, but if you read the threads on that subject you will find that your chances are extremely low anyway.
