Marriage extension or multi entry Marriage if travelling frequently.

Hi TV,

I'm currently on a marriage extension and have been offered a job in China that I am considering.

I have some dumb questions-

1) Marriage extension- I can use a re-entry permit if I go outside the country. I'm guessing this can only be used once, right?

2) The savannakhet multi entry- Can I come and go into Thailand as many times as I like, or is there a limit?

3) If I am in China frequently, would I be better off using a different visa when I did visit Thailand? (Tourist or visa exempt)

4)Does anyone have any experience about applying for visas for Thailand in mainland China?

1.Re entry permits come in two flavours single or muti-entry !

2.The muti entry visa provides for unlimited entries (for up to 90 days) whilst the visa is valid.

I have seen several DIFFERENT answers on how a multiple re-entry permit can be used.

Do you have to leave and re-enter ONCE every 90 days to keep it valid?

EXAMPLE ONLY :

(A)I have a retirement extension good from 1st May 2015 to 30th April 2016, also a multiple re-entry permit issued on the same day - 1st of May 2015. I want to travel in NOVEMBER(2015) ( 6 months from issue date ), DECEMBER(2015) and MARCH(2016)

Is the multiple re-entry permit valid for re entry in the above example?

A visa is good for for a single or Multiple entries . Each entry gained from a muti-entry visa is good for 90 days unless an O/A visa is held in which case a one year stay is permitted. A valid muti entry visa NEVER requires a re-entry permit. Single entry visas and "extensions of stay" do require a re-entry permit if the visa/extension of stay holder wishes to travel and maintain the "permitted to stay date" the visa/extension of stay provided. Re-entry permits are issued for single or multiple use.

In that example case the indicted travel could be undertaken and a multi-reentry permit would allow the 30th April 2016 permitted to stay date to be kept .

Be aware that the extension would require re applying for in March 2016

Try to avoid confusing "visas" (which my be single or multiple entry) "extensions of stay" , re-entry permits and "permission to stay dates " they are all different !

The multiple re-entry permit is valid for entry for as long as the permit to stay is issued for. In your example it would be valid for entry until the 30th of April 2016. and give you a permit to stay date on entry to that date.
