Health Insurance for Thai visiting the UK

My gf and I are going to the UK for a month for a holiday.

Does anyone have any tips on insurance companies and ideas of costs so that she's covered incase of emergencies?

My partner used to use local companies, cheap enough but most of them require you to settle any bills and claim back when you return to Thailand, not always practical.

World Nomads is pretty good and part of the BUPA group of companies, you can purchase and even claim online, they will settle medical bill directly: worldnomads.com

She took an annual policy out this year with a UK based company who cover Thai residents, though they also offer single trip insurance, both of which you can buy online: columbusdirect.com

My wife bought a 12 month travel insurance through Bupa

I recently bought a policy from Columbus. I found that Thai policies provided inadequate levels of cover.

$72 for 31 days cover - not sure if this cut and paste will work:-

This insurance does not cover any claim arising from any pre-existing defect, infirmity or
condition for which you, your travelling companions or any other person on whom your
travel plans may depend ( being close relative, close business colleague , or person with
whom you intend to stay) have received treatment (including medication) , investigation or
advice has been prescribed or received in the 12 months prior to issue of the policy (for
single trips) or in the 12 months prior to booking YOUR TRIP (for Annual Multi Trips), or are
on a waiting list to receive IN-PATIENT treatment. Or any ongoing medical condition (or
complication directly or indirectly attributed to that condition ) that has been diagnosed or
documented.
This Document is a legally binding contract of insurance between YOU (Insured Person) and US
(certain underwriters at Lloyd's). The contract is based on the information you provided at the time of
application. The insurance provided by this certificate covers liability, loss or damage that occurs

I think for that you need Travel Insurance. Other that providing yourself with Medical Insurance you should check travel insurance so that everything will be covered.
