Put their bikes on a chain, let the boy's do clean up after accidents, removing the blood and human rests from the victims...

Let them go explain to the family's that their beloved ones died in a crash because stupidity...

Its all about education, or the lack off...coffee1.gif

...after this tackling is done, he'll focus on jay-walkers, finally!

(what is anyone else in his government doing? Are they all inactive? For Chrissakes, help the man!)

heavy fines and crush bikes should solve the problem... same for any crime in Thailand, the fines are a joke and laws are just not enforced.

Do not crush the motorcycles, take them to the rural areas were some can not afford a good motorcycle and have them issued out.

Make a public announcement that anyone caught racing will be arrested, their bike impounded and taken to a crusher immediately without recourse. Follow through on the announcement regardless if the parents are "hi-so" or not. The modification on some of these bikes cost tens of thousands of Baht. Let them know there are consequences for their actions. After a few hundred bikes have been crushed they might, just might start getting the message.

That might work if they were stock bikes. But these are not stock bikes. It would be moving the issue to another area.

Tackle with what?

Apparently reforming the police is too big a job....

So who is going to tackle any of the daily promises we get nowadays???

And the police is too busy trying to tackle the military....

What a mess :)

are these the same teens that were arrested the night before? Were the seized bikes returned? If so, why? If not, and these are new offenders and new bikes to seize, then keep arresting and seizing until the pool of idiots run dry :)

"He said he didn’t understand why the street racing continued despite of police action and mass arrest" - maybe they are waiting for a constitution?

What a mob of a#seholes there is posting in TV, would you all be happy if Prayut did SFA -or would a few rice schemes or drug dealer eliminations make you a lot happier. How about getting off your bar stools and actually have a look at what us going on around you.

There is no doubt that this country has many problems, and more than a few serious ones. However the PM is avoiding the elephant in the room, and that is a complete and total, top to bottom, reform of the RTP, and I might add, the entire legal system.

Without a complete reform of the RTP and the justice system, NOTHING will change. And since the PM has taken police reform OFF the table, it would seem everything else is nothing more than hot air.

I don't think military reform ever even made it to the table. So SNAFU, as we used to say.

He said he has advised that whether their riding licenses could be seized or revoked for six months or more.

He really thinks thai teenage boys will listen to so called "authority"?

despite everyone’s warning for them to stop risking their lives racing on the streets

Out of touch my dear general, out of touch

Do you even look at how advertising targets boys and going fast?

Do you even look at effective models from other countries?

But really the q is: Why is this pressing issue, when so many much much bigger ones hang over the countries head?

Lottery ticket pricing?

Bringing happiness to the people......

SFA....Segmented Flow Analysis? Sodium fluroracetate? Somali Film Agency?

Good job on the name-calling. That always supports an argument well, lol.

Yeah...I find it very offensive that he called me a mob too! Sell Foreign Assets?

“I don’t understand why the problem is still ongoing"

Because dear General ... laws have not been enforced in the past. These kids grow up in an almost state of anarchy. They know how slack the police force is.

Tip: MAKE THE POLICE ENFORCE ALL LAWS ... from NOW!

Not next year ... NOW!

It has been said above and I will repeat it as it makes me feel better. Crush their bikes and make them watch then they can walk home. No fines to get into the wrong hands. Just no bikes .

Posted

This should not be that hard to resolve. Confiscate any motorcycle involved then require the kid and his parents to show up at a field where heavy road construction equipment is driven over all the offenders bikes. Once finished, tell the parent/kids to take the mess away or fine them for littering.

No bike- no street racing. If the parent want to fork over more money for another bike and the kid behaves the same way then repeat the exercise until such time that either he or his parents get with the program.

Posted

So he wants to take the license from an underage rider. How does that work? What license does an underage rider have. And taking the license from a licensed driver is useless they will continue to ride regardless. Better to take the bike away for 6 months or even a year then it may have some impact.

He doesn't understand why young men full of testosterone and bravado want to ride fast and race each other to impress the girls.

Why not build a drag strip where these young people can have some fun in a safer environment?

Why stop people having fun when they could just be given a place to do it properly?

May I suggest .... On the second offence...crush the father's BMW too.

People who post the location of police checkpoints may be sued, Somyot says
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- POLICE ARE considering legal action against people who post the location of checkpoints for street racers on their social network pages, as they would be accessories to such offences, police chief Pol General Somyot Poompanmoung said Tuesday.

Somyot made the comment at a meeting with officials from 61 agencies Tuesday, such as the Transport, Interior and Justice ministries to find measures to prevent street racing. Measures suggested included seizing racers' driver's licences for three months, six months or for life, in a bid to prevent racers from re-offending, he said.

Because Dad ... The illegality, danger and rebelliousness are a major part of the attraction. Safer environments are for nerds.

No.

I and most Thais would be happy if he simply allowed a democratic election, you know, the type that he and his ilk have lost at the last 4 times of trying, only to then dismantle them because they didn't win.

coffee1.gif

You mean the type of democratic election that produces a government that dismally fails to govern?

Enforce the laws and increase the fines and it might work. What are the fines by the way? Perhaps pay a bonus of 200 baht to the police officer who brings the kids with bikes in.

The entire policing system is screwed up so it is no wonder kids are out of control. It will only get worse I am afraid.

Another case of p****, err, ahh, urinating into the wind, right up there with the 'war on drugs' and the 'war on corruption'. Well, imho.

Of course, there are other options. In my youth we had licensed 'Drag Strips' and almost all the drag strips had open racing evenings.

You want to stop a behavior? Provide an alternative outlet.

What is not broken in this country ?

Auto production, a world leader. Hard drive production, a world leader. Durian production, best in the world. In comparison with the West the women are so far from broken it will take centuries for the West to catch up. Uniforms, awesome Western universities should hang their heads in shame. Soi dogs not broken they are everywhere. Women's volleyball team. I could go on but I don't want to get folks in the West any more agitated than you already are.
