BANGKOK, 8 June 2015 (NNT) – The Election Commission (EC) has announced its achievements over the past year while confirming to continue strengthening the democratic system and the political sector of Thailand.

EC Chairman Supachai Somcharoen was accompanied by other EC members during his delivery of the agency’s one-year performance report on the occasion of its 17th founding anniversary on June 9 this year. The Chairman stated that, for the past year, the EC has been pushing on with its duty of developing the Thai democracy as well as raising the strength of political parties in an attempt to foster a fair and transparent electoral system.

Mr Supachai added that the EC has been gearing up for the upcoming general election as well as the public referendum on the new permanent constitution. Eight amendment proposals on the draft charter have also been submitted by the EC to the Constitution Drafting Committee.

Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Prawit Rattanapien, who accompanied Mr Supachai on this occasion, stated that the EC’s vision for the year 2020 is to be able to arrange high-quality elections for high-quality citizens.

"The Election Commission (EC) has announced its achievements over the past year while confirming to continue strengthening the democratic system and the political sector of Thailand."

Like it did in February 2014?

"Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Prawit Rattanapien, who accompanied Mr Supachai on this occasion, stated that the EC’s vision for the year 2020 is to be able to arrange high-quality elections for high-quality citizens."

So, September 2016 is either called off or will be of lesser quality than the one in 2020 ... of course, that one will only be for high-quality citizen

What did they get paid for in the last 14 months?

Feel so ashamed been paid doing nothing, that they need to come out and make a statement?

The Chairman stated that, for the past year, the EC has been pushing on with its duty of developing the Thai democracy as well as raising the strength of political parties

Those parties that are not allowed to debate or meet? Job well done Mr Chairman clap2.gif

Edit: Nice sun tan though, one year holidaying at the beaches can make wonder cheesy.gif

This previous junta-created royalist organization will say and do anything to stay in the good graces of the Prayut regime.

Just so long as it can remain an Independent Organization and have no accountability for its failures to support a democratic society.

The EC should be front and center in any reform. With EC Chairman Supachai Somcharoen press

release of the past years performance review the Lincoln quote comes to mind,

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. coffee1.gif
