The bus was travelling from Phuket to Had Yai.

KRABI: -- Eleven people were taken to hospital this afternoon (June 9) when a delivery truck collided with a Phuket-Had Yai tour bus at the Na Neur junction in Ao leuk, Krabi. Police have blamed the incident on traffic lights which were not in service.

At 2:26pm, Ao Luek police were called to the scene of an accident where a delivery truck had collided head-on with a bus on Phetkasem Rd in Na Neua subdistrict.

Upon arrival at the scene, police and rescue workers found a tour bus which was carrying passengers from Phuket to Had Yai lying on its side in a ditch. A damaged Toyota truck was in the middle of the road.

Eleven passengers were trapped inside the bus, and when safely removed were taken to Ao Leuk Hospital for treatment. Of the 11, five remain in hospital with serious injuries.

The Toyota truck driver was also injured and taken to Thap Put Hospital in Phang Nga.

Witnesses told police that the tour bus was coming from the direction of Phuket and the Toyota from Surat Thani. They crashed head-on at high speed at a set of traffic lights which were not working.

Police are currently investigating the incident further.

So what's the system for monitoring traffic lights, trying a remote fix or sending a team to go look and repair?

Furthermore, what's the process for informing the police in such cases, so they can go and direct the traffic while the problem is being resolved?

What do you mean, they don't exist?

Who in his right mind goes barreling through any unregulated intersection? Anyone can see there are no lights or signs. Even so no one should barrel though a regulated intersection in case someone else makes a mistake.

It's crazy.

Rather than blaming the crash on the traffic lights not working, should they not be asking themselves 'why' were they not working ?

Nothing to do with the lights it is driver stupidity. Now you see the quality of drivers hired to drive a passenger vehicle

............Police have blamed the incident on traffic lights which were not in service.............

NO. They should blame the selfish and inconsiderate morons who sit behind a wheel try and try to pass as 'drivers' in Thailand!!

No no no. Then the police would have to do some work and investigate who was to blame. Blame the lights, case closed.

How about the police TAKE the BLAME for not noticing that a major intersection has no operable lights. It's called "being proactive."

How many police passed through that intersection knowing lights were inoperable. Too many road accidents seem to happen in Thailand not because anyone wasn't aware of a hazard but because no one took the responsibility to assure public safety by doing something about the problem.
