Probe into lost guns ordered
THE NATION

KORAT: -- Defence Minister General Udomdej Sitabutr said yesterday that the case of some 100 M16 rifles going missing from the Interior Ministry's 1st Nakhon Ratchasima territorial defence volunteer corps' armoury should be investigated in detail.

Nakhon Ratchasima Governor Thongchai Leu-adul said on Wednesday that 90 of 170 assault rifles in the armoury had gone missing since 2011 and that his predecessor had ordered a probe and filed police complaints. More than 20 persons of interest have been questioned, but nobody has admitted to stealing the weapons yet, he said.

A June 5 count of weapons in 32 districts showed five assault rifles missing, which were later found to have been borrowed by the Theparak district unit, he said, adding that some of the missing rifles may have been "borrowed" in a similar manner.

Same as when the customs, lost 300 luxury cars!

90 0dd weapons missing from an armoury over 5 years - and they have "questioned 20 people of interest"!.

Outstanding!

Amazing Thailand.............then of course, there's all the weapons stolen from soldiers that have been killed.........possibly a further 100 or so........!

'Should be investigated in detail ' ?

Is he simply stating the obvious or hinting the investigation has been less than satisfactory so far ?

The problem about proper, in depth investigations is that they often reveal things that some would rather not see the light of day.

I think your last point is probably correct. The initial investigation may have got nowhere because it pointed to someone who was "protected". Now, he/she could well be about to get their just deserts.

Just hope Thailand never gets Nuclear or Chemicals weapons.

So when's Prayut going to order a thorough and impartial anti-corruption investigation of his brother officers, their assets, connections etc, throughout the entire military.

What's that you say? I can't hear you...

They're going to move to Dubai?

Just hope Thailand never gets Nuclear or Chemicals weapons.

In a worst case scenario they will come up with a lousy Thai-style copy...

Nobody admitted to stealing the weapons!!! Oh DARN ..... what are we gonna do now?

Lost guns???? What!!!!! Like ok children were'd ya leave your guns???? Did ya leave em at your friend's house???? HUmnnnnnnnnnnn?????

Just hope Thailand never gets Nuclear or Chemicals weapons.

Now that's a scary thought on SO MANY levels. Who would build/maintain/secure it? Oh GEEZEUS. Can you imagine?

When something gets sold it's lost ???

somebody "might" get transferred soon

you know, if you hold one of them "get out of jail" cards for life

Is there also missing ammo???? If not....it's pretty "thai"
