Cruise ships with regional home ports...

Featured Replies

Looking for cruise/ship recommendations for the family for a 7-10 days getaway. Doesn't have to involve Phuket.... fly out, fly back is fine, but obviousy a regional "home" port would be good.

Penang has lots of cruises. Great office on Beach Road close to the pier,

AFAIK there is NO based in TH such cruiseline, aboyut the only one serving the area is indeed Starcruises, from MY (mainly relying on Chinese then able to gamble in open seas) and depending on season/trip also serving either Pattaya=Laem Chabang or Phuket and very rarely Samui. And thats it. OR consider the Eastern&Oriental ''train cruise''

holland america line in nov, dec. jan from singapore very nice

There's a big bugger just passed us coming into Vung Tau, Vietnam. I will check on the AIS and get a name.

One or more of the Royal Caribbean ships is based at Singapore for part of the year. I know one of them is the same as is based in Sydney for part of the year too, it's like 130,000 tons or something - big.

Royal Caribbean are great for families, plenty of shipboard activities. Not just a Singapore gambling cruise.

There's a USA website I have used to book cruises in the Pacific and in the Caribbean - Vacations to go. You can search by region, by departure port etc. Had no problems with them, found their service to be very good. They have a last minute section they call the '90 day ticker', some bargains to be had.

There's a toll-free number to call from Australia, and other countries no doubt. Not sure if Thailand is one of them.

Cool, thanks for the ideas. Didn't know Royal Carib was operating in the region.

Beach Road closed!

Royal Caribbean operates the mariner and legend out of Singapore for cruises and great for the families
