Private hospital inspected for MERS screening measures

BANGKOK 25 June 2015 (NNT) – Deputy Minister of Public Health Somsak Chunharas on Wednesday carried out an inspection on MERS screening and prevention measures at private hospitals in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.


The minister, accompanied by Department of Health Service Support Director-General Boonruang Triruangworawat, observed the use of thermal scanners at building entry points for the filtering of patientsm where nurses were seen querying hospital visitors to collect information on the latter. Sterile rooms have also been prepared for use in diagnosing patients deemed to be at risk of MERS, in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the Ministry of Public Health.

The deputy public health minister disclosed that four Thais who had traveled to South Korea had been subjected to screening test for MERS, and no infection was found. According to Dr. Somsakm private hospitals have been asked to provide information on prevention of the spread of diseases to all health personnel, as they are a group of individuals who can easily spread diseases that they have.

Yala organizes event promoting peace during Ramadan

YALA, 25 June 2015, (NNT) - Yala Vocational College and the provincial administration office yesterday held an event promoting peace and religious teaching to students and locals during the holy month of Ramadan.


Yala Governor Samart Waradisai presided over the event, during which he handed participants essential items for mosques. Attending the event were the college’s teachers, students, parents and residents.

Yala Vocational College said the event was in line with the National Council for Peace and Order’s policy which underlined religious practices and promotion during the Muslim fasting month. The college said the event would also instill religious faith among students.

The event highlighted the diversities among different regions, tightening bonds among the province’s education institutes, the governmental units and the religious sector.

A lecture on the importance of the holy month of Ramadan was also delivered during the event.

Thai man arrested for stealing over 300 underwear, bras in ten years

Udon Thani:- A 36-year-old Thai man has been arrested for stealing women's bras and underwear at boarding houses in Udon Thani's Mueang district during the past ten years. He has been doing this without capturing the attention of his wife.

Auto gas association opposes excise tax increase on LPG

1st Army Region holds a press seminar, promoting reconciliation

BANGKOK, 25 June 2015 (NNT) - The 1st Army Region yesterday held a seminar for members of the media stationed in Sing Buri Province to promote their cooperation in disseminating constructive news to local people .


The event was organized by the Internal Security Operations Command at the 1st Army Region’s conference hall in Bangkok. Attending the seminar were news reporters, radio program producers and community informants of Sing Buri.

The seminar highlighted the press’s role in creating atmosphere conducive to reconciliation in the Kingdom by presenting accurate news that is beneficial to all. The media’s cooperation in such a way is expected to bring about peace to the society and termination in the use of violence among conflicting parties. The seminar also urged the participants to promote the 12 national core values supported by the National Council for Peace and Order.

BANGKOK: -- Five Thai students arrested at Lohore airport in Pakistan when one of them was found to have gun in possession on June 8 have been released, the Thai Foreign Ministry said today.

They were freed on June 22 and have returned to Thailand today, it said.

The students have already returned to their home provinces today, it said.

Chinese tourist in Phuket hospital after falling from jet-ski

The Chinese tourist was initially taken to Thalang Hospital but was transferred to Phuket International Hospita; because she was experiencing breathing difficulties.

PHUKET: -- A Chinese tourist is currently in hospital being treated for injuries she sustained when she she fell from a jet-ski she was riding off the beach of Koh Naka Yai.

Min of Transport would spend a billion baht building ferry ports in the Gulf of Thailand

Police officer gets 2-year suspended jail term for negligence of duty over attack on anti-Thaksin protesters

BANGKOK: -- A metropolitan police senior officer was given a two-year suspended jail term after the Supreme Court found him guilty of negligence of duty for not performing his duty to prevent perpetrators from attacking anti-Thaksin demonstrators at Central World in 2006.
