phantomfiddler
Not as bad as the guy who sat on the bacon slicing machine and got a little behind with the orders
xerostar
Another terrible example of Thailand's lack of interest in enforcing safety standards. Poor training combined with machines that have no safety guards. Workers are entitled to work in a safe environment but apparently not in Thailand ... I met a lady recently who works in a perfume factory in Bangkok. She has developed a chronic cough caused by inhaling irritant vapors and irritated eyes caused by powders used in the process. Her boss has never offered any protective equipment except for a standard surgical mask, which is practically useless. She continues to work there because she needs the income. She tries to treat her cough with all manner of pills and medications, to no avail. Western occupational health and safety guidelines state that a respirator with deactivated carbon filters are required while handling volatile liquids. Her choice to use the machine, this wasn't in a factory where she was forced to do something she didn't want to.
Chang_paarp
Am I the only one to notice the subject of this article changed gender somewhere between the headline and the first paragraph? It would seem the unfortunate person was female from the photo. Hope she recovers.
Gandtee
The police are investigating after receiving a tip off. I hope she gets better quickly.

But love the headline writer's macabre humor - "... relieves..." :)

faraday
"Relieves"...? Poor choice of word. People lose fingers in accidents every day; there's no need to criticise Thailand again, as if this nevers happens elsewhere. Hope she copes ok, & is able to work properly again soon.
