Alms giving on elephants’ back to take place in Surin

SURIN, 27 June 2015 (NNT) – Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is now inviting tourists to take part in the alms giving ceremony on elephants' back, set for the end of July 2015 as tribute to His Majesty the King and to promote tourism in Surin Province.

Surin Province and TAT will be holding the Buddhist Lent Candle Procession and Alms Giving On Elephants’ back ceremony on 29-30 July 2015, featuring the exquisite candle parade from famous temples in the province, cultural performances, and an elephant parade on 29 July. The alms giving on elephants' back ceremony scheduled for 30 July at the Monument of Phaya Surin Phakdi Si Narong Changwang, Surin.

The event has been organized as tribute to His Majesty the King, to conserve the beautiful Thai traditions, and to promote tourism activities in Surin Province.

Visitors to this event can also visit other tourism attractions in the area such as the Ban Tha Sawang Silk Village where villagers still perform traditional silk weaving techniques, the Elephant Village where elephants are raised as the family member, and the beautiful sandstone-carved Apsara statue located at Prasat Sikhoraphum castle.

And we'll be reading 31 July how tourists were trampled by angry elephants.

Why would that be,they've handled the Elephant Roundup quite well,with no stampedes of angry pacaderms rampaging through the streets of Surin.

Incorrect info. I was on a bloody elephant during a stampede in Surin!!!
