Passport checks in Thailand in line with ICAO standards

BANGKOK, 30 June 2015 (NNT)-The Royal Thai Police have insisted that Thailand’s system of passport checks is in line with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The Deputy Royal Thai Police Chief, Police General Wut Lipatapallop and Immigration Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Sakda Cheunpakdi have demonstrated to the media how a traveler's passport is checked by Immigration.

They claimed that the procedure is recognized by the ICAO and is also the same as the system used worldwide. It consists of examining and feeling the texture of a passport, conducting a UV scan and using a magnifying glass to prove its authenticity.

The Deputy Police Chief added that most of those caught using fake passports were from Vietnam and Iran. He further stated that it is important for immigration officers to be able to effectively identify whether a passport is genuine, if Thailand is to lead ASEAN in terms of preventing illegal entry.

The system might be in line, but the people are not... How come there are so many outlaws in Thailand?

Of course when they show to the media it always works well. It is like having life jackets on boats. Always looks nice on TV or during press conference. But in reality you barely see any life jacket on boats.

That's the Thailand drama. Always only about appearances. But behind the scenes, all is rotten.

me thinks Thailand has a very inflated opinion of it's own worth, I can think of many things Thailand leads in but I would not be bragging about them....

One hopes that not only the Passport checks are in line with ICAO standards but the majority of the daily work carried out at the Terminal , especially the control tower, is also able to pass a ICAO audit.coffee1.gif

What have passport checks got to do with the number of outlaws in Thailand...blink.png ...if their own countries were they committed said outlawish activities haven't put them on a watch list or requested the Thai immigration take someone into custody then how are they to know who is or isn't an outlaw...you just talking poo, but lets not let facts get in the way of a good Thai bash...

Further how many boats have you been on...I would wager not many as it would take up too much of your time off a bar stool

In Canada, there is no passport control from Immigration if you fly out of the country. I do not know if you are European, if your own Immigration does a passport check when you fly out of the European zone.

And In Thailand, Immigration Computers are not linked to Interpol system at airports. So if someone has a warrant from Interpol it is not checked when they fly in. This fact was in newspapers in Thailand went MH370 disappeared. Thai official at Immigration said at the time that it was too expensive for them to pay for the link with Interpol. This news was in the Thai English language newspapers.
