Location at US Embassy in Bangkok for Income Verification Letter

Featured Replies

I need to go to the US Embassy in Bangkok to get my income verification letter notarized for my one year extension to stay. This will be my first time using the Bangkok US Embassy. I remember reading somewhere on Thai Visa (but can't find it now) that the building I need to report to for this had been moved to a different building in the US Embassy compound.

Can you give me the information on where this building is in the compound so I don't get any more lost than I already will be? I will be using the BTS to Ploen Chit station if that makes any difference for directions.

Thank you,

Duck Duck

See US-embassy website.

You need to apply at the consulate, which is in a different building. You will also need to make an appointment and make the affidavit yourself, to be sigend in fron tof the consular officer.

Nothing has moved for years. The consular section is across the street from the embassy.

Everything you need to know for getting the income affidavit and making a mandatory appointment can be found here. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service.html

Thank you. I already have the income verification letter filled out and waiting to sign in front of the consular officer, and the appointment has already been made. I guess I remember reading somewhere that the building I need to go to wasn't at the embassy itself but somewhere nearby. Across the street is fine and google street view helped out after finding that out. Thanks again.

Actually that was the embassy at the time the Consulate was opened at current location (about 35 years ago). It is East side of road - the new Embassy itself is on the other side of the street and was formally a housing area for Embassy employees (it has always been one of the largest Embassies in the world).

You go to outside security window with your appointment slip/passport to get pass and then queue in front of entry for security screening. Once inside you keep to right and follow path to American Service door and present paperwork to window 3 inside. You will then go to payment window and submit you paperwork for processing and be called to sign when ready. Simple process.

be sure to smile at the guards..especially the americans on alert..

When you leave the security checkpoint door, turn left and when you get to the building at the end of the walkway, keep right to enter the door to citizen services. I think that the notarization of the income affidavit costs $50. I always pay by credit card but I think that they require correct change so be forewarned. Good luck.

The cashier will take baht but I think you save a few satang if you have USD.

It does not have to be the correct amount. They will make change. At the moment it is 1650 baht.
