wannascuba
I am sure allot of the American Expats (or any current / former USG employee, contractors, etc.) in Thailand will be affected by this breach. Most have likely seen this in the news; however, there are some important points to be aware of; 1) Not all affected individuals will be notified by OPM or DHS. 2) Monitor your credit and financial accounts. Anyone can put a credit freeze / fraud alert for free. Contact each of the nationwide credit reporting companies: Equifax — 1-800-349-9960 FREE Experian — 1‑888‑397‑3742 TransUnion — 1-888-909-8872 FREE 3) Be aware and alert of any unusual online activity, email, etc. for unsolicited requests asking for (PII) personally identifiable information, IE fishing for resumes, social sec number, address, siblings, etc, etc. "Employees should take steps to monitor their personally identifiable information and report any suspected instances of identity theft to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. (external link)" 3) Report any of the above as appropriate to your individual circumstances.
