Vanilla Orchids

Hi I bought a couple ( now deceased ) at the Chatuchak plant market in Bangkok, same site as the Chatuchak weekend market, at the Mo Chit BTS stop. the plant market is held on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Hello All, this article in this months Ag Magazine caught my eye. It's in Thai,

but some nice pic's, and their growing in coconut like some hydro growers are

growing toms and melons..

By the way, the article is about V in Tahiti.

I bought vanilla seeds off the Internet and thought in my nativity that I could just stick them in earth or something like that...good that I did some research before starting and it looks like a rather complex process.

Anyone experience with germinating orchid seeds

You need tissue culture/micropropagation laboratory/equipment and then still difficult with low germination/survival rate

They grow well in a shade house if you water them properly.

I took this picture in Cambodia close to Angkor, they told me the vines are 3 years old. They are selling healthy vine cuttings and can export them to Vietnam , Thailand, Laos etc...

I was told  that in vitro plants require much care, but cuttings are easier to grow and faster also.
