Tourist Visa in KL?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, a local friend recommended this forum to me, I hope someone can help.

I've been in Thailand since January and since I've had two exemption stamps (extended) and one single entry Visa, also extended.

I need to stay here until Early December; is KL a good place to visit to get single entry Visa a couple of times until then, or will they refuse me?

I would rather avoid Laos (I know they are happy to issue double entry visas there) if possible.

I'm based in Krabi, if that helps and my latest extension expires 1st August.

Many thanks

KL is the absolutely worst place in the region to get visas. If you want to do it in Malaysia, Penang is OK.

Agree I don't recommend Kl for any visa.

Penang is the best choice for southern Thailand.

Oh no, thank you. Why is that? How about Singapore? That's where I got my Single Entry Tourist Visa last time. Will they kick off of I go back there again?

KL is not consistent in their requirements to get a visa. They at times will ask for financial proof that only a Malaysian can provide.

You will not get another tourist visa in Singapore. That have been refusing applications if you just left Thailand to go there for a visa.

Thank you.. So Laos.. Vientiane, I can fly there and get a taxi from the airport, right? I've only heard people getting the train or bus? Tia x

I have had several tourist visas from KL without the slightest problem.

Singapore and Kota Bharu are the worst, in my experience.

There are a number of of flights a day to Vientiane.

You can also fly to Udon Thani and then from there it is less than an hour van ride to the bridge in Nong Khai. Nok Air has a fly/ride service to Vientiane via Udon.

Perhaps in the past you have gotten them in KL. There have been several negative reports for Kl recently. Even asking for tickets out for some people and others not.

Vientiane is good, but very busy. Commonly, people use fly ride service to Nong Khai via Udon Thani to get there.

You seem not to be keen on Penang. As a matter of interest, why?

Vientiane is not that busy unless you go on Monday or Thursday when the visa run vans are there.

I don't know anything about Penang? Is that easier? I think that's also a single entry visa, right? I would like to fly to wherever, rather than go on the road. I'm based in Krabi, if that helps

My last one from KL was March this year. Maybe something has changed since then.

Penang would be a good bet, plenty of info about direct flights from Krabi on the interweb.
